Join us for a unique Long Island adventure! In the Town of Hempstead 30 bay houses once stood on island marshlands, originally built by fishermen and baymen. These houses have been passed down from generation to generation. After Superstorm Sandy only 14 remained, many damaged. The owners are repairing their historic houses, now considered eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. On Sunday, July 17th, you will have an opportunity to take a trip on a small vessel for a 1½ hour tour of these historic houses. We will be visiting two of the survivors on each trip.

We are offering two departures on July 17th from Freeport – one at 10:30 am and one at 12:30 pm.

Due to safety concerns space is limited to 12 people per trip ages 10 and up. Participants must be able to climb ladders and feel comfortable in a work environment.

Price:  $60/person, $110/couple; $10 discount for LI Traditions members

Registration: Long Island Traditions members can register beginning May 5 at 11am.

All others can register beginning May 26.
