Please join us for a special virtual program on Monday, January 31 at 7 pm in conjunction with the East Meadow Public Library — The screening of “Life on the Bays” by filmmaker Jeffrey Basinger.

Baymen have been a Long Island traditional occupation for over 300 years. This poignant and important film addresses the plight facing Long Island’s baymen, and, therefore, the future of Long Island’s bays. Over the course of two years, baymen from Patchogue, Center Moriches, Freeport, Greenport, Huntington, Mount Sinai and Oyster Bay shared their stories with Newsday’s award-winning multimedia team for this documentary. The baymen reflect on a waning industry and explain why some will never leave this life on the water. Dylan Skolnick, co-director of the Huntington Cinema Arts Centre, will be presenting the program which will include Long Island Tradition’s Executive Director, Nancy Solomon.

The program is FREE but registration is required. You may register online by clicking here, or call 516 794-2570 ext 5005 to register. Once registered, you will be emailed the Zoom link for the program on the day of the program.
