Please join us on Thursday, March 24th at 3:30 pm, when Nancy Solomon will be a guest on the My Hometown radio show, on WHPC, The Voice of Nassau Community College. Solomon will be discussing her latest book, “Boat Building and Boat Yards of Long Island: A Tribute to Tradition,” published by the History Press. In this book Solomon documents the traditions and places of Long Island’s boat building industry from a contemporary perspective. She shares the stories she collected from traditional boat builders and boat yard managers in the region during the late 1990s to the present day. The book includes builders and boatyards from Long Island’s north shore, south shore and east end. Highlights include the Ida May Project, the Knutson Boat Yard, the Scopinich family, the Weeks Yacht Yard, and Charlie Balsamo, among others.
