Boat Building and Boat Yards of Long Island: A Tribute to Tradition documents the traditions and places of Long Island’s boat building industry from a contemporary perspective.  Folklorist and architectural historian Nancy Solomon shares the stories she collected from traditional boat builders in the region during the late 1990s to the present day. The book includes builders and boatyards from Long Island’s north shore, south shore and east end. Highlights include Alan Steiger, the Scopinich family, Guinness world record holder Al Grover and Paul Ketcham, along with Coecles Harbor Marina, the Hanff and Knutson boatyards.
