Come join us Sunday January 21, 2024 at 2pm at the Roosevelt Public Library (27 W Fulton Ave, Roosevelt, NY 11575) for the official launch of our latest cell phone tour from TravelStorys. The tour explores the struggle for Civil Rights in Nassau County, with stops in Roslyn Heights, Roosevelt, Hempstead and Malverne/Lakeview. This tour features stories from activist Joan Hodges, Dr. Georgette Grier-Key of the Eastville Historical Society, NAACP president Hazel Dukes, Roosevelt activist Dr. Seretta McKnight, and Van Johnson. The tours were curated by Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, Denise Grace Shepphard of the Oyster Bay Historical Society, and Nancy Solomon of Long Island Traditions.
